Today's Air Quality Conditions
Daily average fine particulate concentrations are in the Code Green range statewide today. Localized Code Yellow conditions are likely occurring in Cherokee and Clay counties due to smoke from the ongoing Collett Ridge Fire.

General Forecast Discussion
A cool, rainy Sunday on tap especially in the southern portion of the state as another shortwave disturbance moves eastward over the region. Expect Code Green daily average fine particulate levels statewide with the possible exception of Code Yellow conditions in Cherokee and Clay Counties.
Outlook
Monday through at least Tuesday, North Carolina will remain under the influence of strong surface high pressure over the eastern U.S. and ridging in the upper levels. With this pattern, our source air mass from the northeast should result in fine particulate concentrations in the Code Green range throughout the period. Wildfire activity in the region is something to keep an eye on and the forecast will be adjusted to account for any local smoke impacts.
Extended Air Quality Outlook
The forecast Air Quality Index value for each pollutant represents the highest value expected within each county, so some areas and monitors may see lower values. We use the best information and techniques available to ensure the quality and accuracy of the forecasts we provide to the public. Note that ranges do not include the nine-county Triad region, which is covered by the Forsyth County Office of Environmental Assistance and Protection.
